A millisecond, or one thousandth of a second, is a very short period of time. It's used to estimate the pace of high-speed operations or to measure how long it takes for electronic devices like computers or smartphones to do a task. Just imagine it taking 0.001 seconds, or 10-3 seconds, to complete. For contrast, the time it takes for a human to blink their eyes is around one second, while the time it takes for a camera's flash to activate is roughly one millisecond.
